If you are currently using Mozilla Firefox 16 then better you downgrade it to previous Mozilla release because attack code that exploits a privacy information leak introduced in the latest version of Firefox is available online. Before you fall prey to any malicious website that can gather detailed information about users' browsing history, I would suggest degrading your Firefox unless Mozilla comes up with the fix.
A couples of hours ago when I visited the link http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ , which is the primary Mozilla download site, I found Firefox 15.0.1 being displayed for download and not Firefox 16 which happens to be the latest released version by Mozilla. Then it did not take long to discover that Firefox 16 has been pulled offline due to some serious bug reported. Mozilla has taken this action just a day after the release of this browser version and is working on the fix and plans to ship updates tomorrow. Michael Coates, who is Mozilla's director of security wrote in a blog post
"Firefox 16 has been temporarily removed from the current installer page and users will automatically be upgraded to the new version as soon as it becomes available. As a precaution, users can downgrade to version 15.0.1 by following these instructions [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new/]. Alternatively, users can wait until our patches are issued and automatically applied to address the vulnerability. " Chrome and Safari Supporting Retina Displays with CSS4 Background Images: What Is Retina Display?10/11/2012 When I read the news that "Google Chrome 21 stable release adds Retina MacBook Pro support, webcam use without plugins" The first thing that came to my mind was -
What is Retina Display? Retina Display is a marketing term developed by Apple to refer to devices and monitors that have a resolution and pixel density so high – roughly 300 or more pixels per inch – that a person is unable to distinguish the individual pixels at a normal viewing distance. CSS4(Cascading Stylesheet version4) would enable websites to allow browsers to select high-res images if they're running on devices with retina or hidpi displays. This feature of CSS4 is being supported in Chrome21, latest stable release and in Safari 6. So obviously the new Chrome 21 is now crisp and clear for the Retina MacBook Pro owners . The good news for everyone is that the latest version of the open-source web browser by Mozilla, Firefox 16 is now available.I am a lot more excited because Mozilla Firefox happens to be my default browser (Thanks to its wonderful developer's tool).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What's new in it? While this version of the browser only introduces a few new features for consumers, developers can look forward to using Firefox’s new Developer Command Line. Firefox 16 is focused more on pushing forward the browser's support for advanced Cascading Style Sheets features and HTML 5 programming interfaces. Seeing from a developers perspective, Firefox has surely increased it's boatload by including CSS3 Animations, Transitions, Transforms, Image Values, IndexedDB and Values and Units. So now we can look forward for using the new CSS3 features more and more in our stylesheets.Isn't it? The list of good things doesn't end here.... A large handful of HTML5 gets a green light for browser support from Mozilla. (This is a something to celebrate , because I really find myself shackled for not being able to use many of the amazing HTML5 elements due to lack of browser support. Even though I will have to wait for firefox peers IE and others to come up with the support) There are other more reasons for which I feel that we should opt for this version ... Firefox 16 gives developers access to the Battery API, which enables them to see a mobile devices’ battery status, as well as the Vibration API. Both are currently making their way through the W3C standardization process.Besides these Mozilla has also integrated incremental garbage collection into Firefox 16.Now the question is how does that benifits you? This feature improves the browser’s responsiveness by dividing the garbage collector’s work into smaller pieces. Mozilla explains: "This is a major feature, over a year in the making, that makes Firefox smoother and less laggy. With incremental GC (garbage-collector), Firefox responds more quickly to mouse clicks and key presses. Animations and games will also draw more smoothly." Though I have also read on internet regarding this new garbage-collector integrated in Mozilla Firefox that this essentially translates into better performance, although it will likely be very negligible on most systems. Therefore I am unsure that how fast will I get any response after clicking the mouse, but who cares, as of now I have many other reasons too to welcome the browser. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What is missing in it? Firefox 16 still lacks a built-in PDF reader—while reading PDFs is supported through a browser add-in, the internal reader is still experimental.(But personally I dont feel it's absensce as a performance issue).
